Duquesne's Select Degrees Emphasize Business and Healthcare Professions
Distance Learning Targets Career Oriented Nurses
Duquesne University in Pennsylvania was founded in the late 1800s as a Catholic college. The institution has been a staple of the Pittsburgh skyline ever since. Over the years the college has been a pioneer in diversity education, tailoring many of its programs to appeal to all students.
The university has 11 different schools in disciplines relating to: law, education, health sciences, liberal arts, business, business administration, music, and leadership. A few of these are graduate schools and others are primarily undergraduate.
Distance Nursing Degrees
Duquesne's Distance Learning division features a selection of online degree and certificate programs from a number of the various schools. Online degrees from the School of Nursing include:
- RN to BSN/MSN
- MSN
- Post Graduate Special Certificates
- PhD in Nursing
The RN to BSN/MSN and the post-graduate certificates are quite unique. RNs may earn their Bachelor of Science while they also work toward a MSN if they choose. The post-graduate certificates are capstones to the MSN-core curriculum in advanced practice nursing specialties.
Select Online Degrees in Leadership and Business
Duquesne's other online degrees include a Masters in Music Education, Masters in Environmental Management, Bachelors in Humane Leadership, Masters in Leadership and Liberal Studies, Masters in Leadership and Business Ethics, Masters in Sports Leadership, Masters in Community Leadership, Masters in Leadership and Information Technology.
DU's degrees in Leadership areas provide intensive and cutting edge training for next generation leaders: regional community leaders, socio-political leaders, and sports and entertainment leaders.
Distance education has become a driving force in post-secondary education. Degree programs are no longer the exclusive realm of online universities, but brick and mortar institutions are reaching out, appealing to a broader, more professional set of students with carefully selected curriculums and degrees. The technology has evolved to the point that most institutions have an online web presence; student account access and many more are simply adding on integrative learning environments. It's been a couple of decades since online education came into being. Adult learners with jobs and families present a formidable student population, but a set not likely to return to traditional campus settings. Instead key degrees, such as those in nursing, are offered as a service.
